The last comp for the year!

Sept 4th meet cancelled!

Due to rain the September 4th event has been cancelled. We are working on a TEST & TUNE event before the next meet on November 6th, so check back soon for a date if we're able to lock one in.

NQ PRO Burnouts over for 2010.

bannerTHE NQ PRO Burnouts is over for 2010 with the best line up you'll see in the North.

The NQ PRO Burnouts is over for another year and if you missed it, you'll be kicking yourself! The field this year was massive. With just shy of 30 of the best cars in the North it was nothing short of spectacular the show that was put on.

The competition was fierce to keep Benny Circle from holding the PRO Burnout title, and take home that $3,000 for them selves.

Among the line up this year was Nick in his AGRAV8TD ute, IBLOWN driven by Andrew Poole, Laurie Sultana in the blown HQ tonner, and many other big cubed vehicles.

Benny Circle was knocked off his podium from last years win due to some issues with his car, which led to a spectacular fire. Lucky for him it was nothing serious.

"Third place winner this year was Jeff, from Townsville, in perhaps the toughest VX Commodore in Queensland, if not Australia. Well deserved place and is something to look out for next year as a top place contender.

Just ahead of Jeff was Andrew Poole, from Townsville also, in his blown VB Commodore known as IBLOWN. Wow, what an effort! Vehicle control, astounding.

And the NQ PRO Burnout champion for 2010 is none other than Jason Tanks in the aspirated 408ci XY, CASPER.

Scotty Joseph Comp over for another year

bannerSmoke was sent to the heavens in memory of Scotty Joseph.

What a spectacular start fo the 2010 burnout season. The event had a great line up of cars competiting for all the classes. The new bigger pad was a huge benefit to drivers and they made use of every inch of it, wipping their cars harder than ever!

On top of the great show from the burnout competitiors, the Springmount Drag Racing Club came out and burned some rubber in the name of FNQ motor sport. Head on over to the Springmount Drag Racing Club to see how you can help the dream of having a drag strip in FNQ.

A first time finalist, and win for the 6cyl class was the Bentley Park School car driven by Joe Borlese. It's worth mentioning that their VK Commodore is worked on by the students to increase their mechanical edution and Joe, the teacher, takes it out to give it a hard time. Congratulations to Joe and all the children who worked on this car.

Colin Wolfe wasn't able to hold on to the Scotty Joseph trophy this year, but took out the 8 cylinder class in his VS Commodore ute.

For the first time the open class got very competitive with 7 entries all putting on an awesome show for the crowd. Benny Circle had the edge taking home the open class trophy.

A first time female competitor, Gemma Procak, showed that it's not just for the boys and took the win for the ladies category.

And finally the Scotty Joseph perpetual trophy winner for the best skid of the night was taken home by Laurie Sultana.

Special thanks must go to our major sponsor of the night, Southside New & Used. Thanks Richo, Jason and the boys. Of course these events are not possible without our sponsors, so further thanks goes to Pacific Radiators, Cape York Automotive, Cairns Brakes & Safety, Hydraulink, Totally Workwear, Cairns Towing and Cougar Motors.

Thank you all and see you all at the biggest tyre smashing event in Cairns, the NQ PRO Burnouts on August 7th.

Scotty Joseph Comp April 17th

bannerUPDATE: TEST & TUNE CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER!

The 2010 burnout season will commence April 17th with the Scotty Joseph Memorial.

Last year Colin Wolfe took the Scotty Joseph perpetual trophy away from Brenton Miller who had won it two years running. We expect a great turnout of both competitors and spectators for this first meet of the year, and the competition will be fierce to try and take the trophy from Colin.

Did I mention that the pad is now BIGGER? Come down and smash some tyres on the new pad. It's bigger and better than ever and waiting to have some tyres destroyed on it.

As usual the gates will open at 2PM with qualifying until 6PM followed by the heats & finals until 10PM.

Classes are as per norm (4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, 8 cylinder, open class and ladies) with prize money and trophies for each class.

Burnout pad goes super-sized!

bannerCairns Burnout pad goes super-sized.

The burnout pad has been the same size for a long time and I bet you're thinking "It's about due to get some extra space to destroy tyres out there!"

Well gues what? That time has come. We are working hard to have this all done before the first meet of the year!

The pad will be over 600sqm in 2010! More room to throw your car around and send those tyres to the burnout gods!

Here are some photos of the progress so far. We expect this to be finished by March 14th, ready for the TEST & TUNE on April 3rd and the first compeitition of the year on April 17th!

Thad pad has been completed now and is ready to go! See you all out there at the first competition on April 17th!

2010 another tyre frying year!

banner2009 is gone, but the burnouts continue.

Well not much has been said since the end of 2009 but things are still on the go! I've been flat out with work and sorting out dates, posters, fliers, sponsors, etc for the burnout year and thought it about time to get the site updated.

I am happy to announce that we have been successful in obtaining four competition nights this year. As usual, the first meeting of the year is the Scotty Joseph Memorial Burnouts. For those of you who don’t know, Scotty was an enthusiastic burnout competitor who passed away suddenly in 2007. Scotty was a regular in his show standard 302 Windsor powered XF sedan and is sadly missed.

Last year Colin Wolfe took the Scotty Joseph perpetual trophy away from Brenton Miller who had won it two years running. We expect a great turnout for both competitors and spectators for this first meet of the year, and the competition will be fierce to try and take the trophy from Colin.

This year we intend to extend the burnout pad an additional 3 to 4 meters on two sides making the total size around 24 by 24 meters. This will be a great addition, especially for the bigger cars.  Other than that the competitions will run as per normal with a 2PM kick off - qualifying till 6PM, then heats and finals till 10PM excluding the "NQ PRO Burnouts" which will kick off at 11AM.

The first NQ PRO Burnouts was run in 2009 and was hugely successful with a massive crowd through the gate and over 20 of the tuffest cars in North Queensland attending. With $3,000 up for grabs for the winner, the competition was fierce to try and take the title of NQ PRO Burnout Champion home. A Cairns local, Benny Circle, took the win in his TD Cortina and will be back to defend his title this year.

The committee are happy to receive any constructive criticism and suggestions which can help us improve the events. If you have any feedback, comments or suggestions please let us know via e-mail or call us. Remember we are all volunteers donating our time to the motor sports we love and anything that can help us improve the events is always welcomed.

NQ PRO BURNOUTS '09 smashing success!

bannerNQ PRO BURNOUTS is a tyre frying showcase of horsepower from the tuffest cars in the region with a massive 1st place cash prize of $3,000!!!

What an amazing show! During the day 40 six and eight cylinder cars smashed tyres in the lead up to the 21 PRO cars at night who put on a killer show!

The competition was fierce with every car putting in all they had. IBLOWN, PROTD, CASPER and a few others scored extremely well but Benny Circle had what it took to take out the win in his Cortina for the night taking home the trophy, Top 10 number plate and $3,000 in cash!

Special thanks for all the drivers (especially those traveling), sponsors, volunteers, judges, and everyone else who made the event possible. A shout must go out to all the Novelty Import girls for coming up from Townsville to put on a show for all the entrants after the show finished.
